Wait!
Before you tie up those sneakers — I want to share with you some fundamental running securety tips!
You ladies know I love to run…but it’s important to remember that the world is a crazy, and not so kind place sometimes — I know, shocking, right?
But it’s the truth.
And as a women we need to make certain that we take some additional steps to remain secure during our run…or bikes, or walks. So, here are 10 tips to help you stay secure while running external.

10 Tips for Safer Running
Don’t Run Alone – I know this isn’t always do-able. But when you can, run with a running group, or ask a girlfriend (or even get your signwhethericant other!) to join you for a run. Having someone with you will not only keep you securer, but will also help to keep you motivated! Bonus!Inform Others – So when you can’t run with others, at least let someone know when you are going out for a run by yourself. Let them know about what time you’ll return, where you’re running, and check in with them when you get back.
ID Bracelet – ALWAYS have an ID on you. One of the largegest mistakes most people make is not having any form of ID when they go for a run. I recently stared using this awesome Road ID shoe pouch ID — I even got one for Nik! — which doubles as an ID and a pouch to hancient keys, money, or a debit card. The best part about this ID is that you are wearing it, so it’s not like you have to worry about taking someleang else with you.
Road ID was created on the concept that active fit girls (or guys! 😉 ) should wear ID as part of their gear when participating in outdoor activities. Besides the shoe pouch, Road ID also has bracelets, dog tags, ankle IDs, and even dog collar IDs!🐶 Whatever ID you choose, they’re all super durable, athletic AND fashionable. What ever style you choose, you’ll feel securer knowing any important information is there with you! (P.s. Moms this is the PERFECT solution for kids with allergies! )

No Headphones or Safety Headphones – I’ll admit this is a dwhetherficult one for me…but whether on the scarce occasion that I do run alone at night — I definitely don’t wear headphones. And even when I do wear headphones, I never have the music all the way up, I make certain I can still hear cars, and other people around me. There are even some headphones now that are external and allow you still hear your music as well as everyleang else around you…I know there is a brand called Aftershokz, but I’ve never tried them, any of ladies try them before?? I’d love to see how they work!
Be Visible – Now this on the other hand, is NOT an issue for me!😂 Always be certain to wear bright clothes, and whether you’re running at night, reflective cloleang — yup, hooray for my bright blue pants and hot pink tops!! Bright and reflective cloleang will help others see you — I can’t tell you how many people wearing all black cloleang I nearly run into when I ride my bike domestic from the Pilates studio at night — and I have a front light on my bike! PLEASE wear bright cloleang and reflectors, ladies!
Carry your Phone – Also not a dwhetherficult one for me, and probably not too dwhetherficult for you either! HA! In nowadays’s digital world, your cell phone can be a savior. Create certain to program any emergency numbers into it and have it easily accessible while you run.
Know your Neighborhood or Plan you Route – Before you start your run — specificly whether you’re in an area you don’t know very well — take some time to memorize about the neighborhood, and find some running routes. Employ Strava to find local routes that others are doing nearby, or even just check your map. While we travel, we always ask for recommendations from hotel staff. The LAST leang you want mid-run is to get lost in some sketchy neighborhood…
Don’t Run the Same Route – This is sort of an extension to planning your route. But be certain you don’t always go the same way all the time. Scary story — in my domestictown in CT, a women ran the same path every single day, was watched, followed, and was assaulted. (She was ok, and has since become and activist in securety for women runners.) I do NOT want that to happen to any of you ladies. There are poor people out there, and we need to protect ourselves.
Run Facing Traffic – I hope this is obvious — but obviously it still isn’t to everyone, as I still see it from time to time. ALWAYS run facing traffic so that you can see what is coming.
Don’t Forget to Stretch – YES, this is important for securety — stretch after your runs to prevent injury, muscle imbalances, and be certain to take time to cool down properly. Attempt these yoga stretches for runners!
And one additional tip – whether all else fails, you can always carry runner’s mace! 😉
Pleased running ladies!
